The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has called on the entire people of the state to shun the April 27, 2013 proposed Local Government Election in the State, describing it as a sham and a way of extorting money from the people.
According to a report from the nieriahornnewspaper, the Imo PDP made the call through a communiqué issued at the end of stakeholders meeting held last Wednesday at the Party secretariat Owerri and jointly signed by the state Chairman, Chief Eze Duruiheoma (SAN) Secretary, Sir George Eguh and Publicity Secretary, Chief Blyden Amajirionwu. According to the communiqué, the proposed Local Government Election in the state is illegal and unconditional as it is also subjudice to the matter which is already in court.
The trio noted that PDP therefore dissociates itself completely from such election pointing out that the party (PDP) equally condemn the concept of Community Government Council ((CGC) as a 4th tier Government under any guise and therefore dissociates itself entirely from the proposed appointment of caretaker committees to man the CGCS in the communities and advised the people to resist any imposition from outside.
The stakeholders in the communiqué however re-affirmed the vote of confidence already passed on the Chairman and members of the state working committee of the party in Imo State at the last stakeholders meeting held on January 14, 2013 and enjoined the people of Imo State to continue to support PDP in the state. culled from nigeriahornnewspaper.
