Michael Haneke film ‘Amour’ sweeps major César awards in Oscars warm-up

It had already won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, a Golden Globe and several other awards internationally – now the French-language film “Amour” has taken a clean sweep of the major prizes at the French “Césars” ceremony in Paris.

Pistorius family cheers as paralympic star set free on bail

The prayers of Oscar Pistorius’ family appear to have been heard as a South African court released him on bail.
The Olympic and Paralympic star was unmoved as a judge ruled he was too famous to flee from the charge of murdering his girlfriend.
Nonetheless he set bail at 1 million rand (85,000 euros).
The decision follows a week of dramatic testimony about how Pistorius shot dead model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp at his luxury home near Pretoria in the early hours of Valentine’s Day.

Imo Election Tribunal Nullifies Oguta Constituency Election


                                          
The Imo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Owerri on Thursday nullified the election of Assembly man Eugine Dibiagwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Oguta Constituency.

Dissolved Imo CLOs fight gov. Okorocha over unpaid stipends

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 There were strong indications that the rosy relationship existing between Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his politically appointed Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) have gone sour, Reason: Non payment of their approved stipend and allowances for eleven months before their dissolution last Saturday.

The CLOs numbering over 600 met in Owerri this Monday and issued a 7 day ultimatum  to the state government to pay them all their outstanding entitlements failing which they have instructed their colleagues who are lawyers numbering 63 to immediately institute a legal action on their behalf against the state government for breach of contract.

  • 'Non-stop shouting' was heard coming from Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius' home before his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead, his bail hearing was told today.
    Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said the prosecution team has a witness who heard the shouting between 2am and 3am.
    Steenkamp, aged 29, was shot three times in her arm, hip and head.

    Imo State,the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has commenced the construction of six road projects in the State. In a news publication on the organisation's website, 
    the roads include Osina internal roads in Ideato North, Umunakara road in Nkwere, Amaudochukwu-Amachikere-Amaegbu road and Umuhu-Okaba-Ihitenasia road in Orsu Local Government Areas.
