Dissolved Imo CLOs fight gov. Okorocha over unpaid stipends

There were strong indications that the rosy relationship existing between Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his politically appointed Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) have gone sour, Reason: Non payment of their approved stipend and allowances for eleven months before their dissolution last Saturday.

The CLOs numbering over 600 met in Owerri this Monday and issued a 7 day ultimatum  to the state government to pay them all their outstanding entitlements failing which they have instructed their colleagues who are lawyers numbering 63 to immediately institute a legal action on their behalf against the state government for breach of contract.
In a press statement signed by Mr. Chinedu Iwuchukwu, Dr. Chris Ekwueme and Evang. Ifeanyi Anwuchughum who are the President, Secretary General and Publicity Secretary of the CLOs in the State respectively confirmed that they have their letters of appointment duly signed by senior personnel of the government.
The Officers stated that they have been executing their legitimate duties since their appointment in 2011 and wondered why the state government has refused to pay them their out standings before dissolving them and directing all government appointees to take over their jobs in their respective autonomous communities.
The Leaders also disclosed that their Secretariat had been directed to commence mobilization of all the CLOs, their spouse and dependents for a 3 day sitting in front of Government House, Owerri, starting from 1st of March.
To ensure the success of their protest, the group has equally advanced plans to write to the Inspector General of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 9 and the State Commissioner of Police for protection.
They pointed out that the Governor’s adventure into All Progressives Congress (APC) without their consent is an indication that the Governor is on his own and without grassroot fellowership.
They equally resolved that they have henceforth stopped further collaboration with the state government adding that the Governor’s Rescue Mission administration agenda is built on deceit and betrayal.    Source: theredparrotonline http://www.theredparrotonline.com/?p=2837
