In a public disclaimer signed by the state chairman, Prince Marshal Okoroanyanwu, the party stated categorically that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu is not a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
The statement reads in part, “The attention of the Imo State Chapter of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has been drawn to several print media publications presenting the Rt. Hon. Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Imo State. For the purposes of clarity, the leadership of the APGA in Imo State, under the able leadership of Hon. Prince Marshal Okaforanyanwu, as the State Chairman, without fear or favour wish to state as follows” stating further the party cited relevant sections of the party constitution to drive home the resentment over reports of the speaker's defection to APGA. It stated,
“Following the Constitutional Provision of our great Party, the APGA in page 5, Article 7,1 (b),(d),(e); Article 7. 2 Sub Sect, (b), (d); Article 7.3 Sub Sect, (a) page 6; Article 7,4 Sub Sect. A page 6. These Articles provide for the Right of Membership and as such, Rt.Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu does not possess.
That, following the report of the seven 7- man Investigation Panel set up in APGA Ihitte/Uboma LGA, as directed by the State Secretariat to investigate the said mediareports; and whose findings hitherto, revealed that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu's alleged decampment and as result, a member of our great party, could not be traced and therefore, false.
It is therefore, incumbent on us, as a party to state categorically, that Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu is not a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)”, the party concluded. nigeriahornnewspapers
