Catholic Bishop Blasts Imo Gov As Okorocha’s Aides Deny Gov Obi Seat During Church Dedication

The dedication of Jesus Mary Joseph Catholic Church built by the Chairman of Zinox Computers, Leo Stan Ekeh, in Amaburu Ubomiri, Mbaitoli local council area of Imo provided yet another space for the ‘Mike Tyson’ governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha to show open display of state power
as his security aides today prevented the visiting governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi from occupying a suitable seat during the church service.
It took the fiery Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Dr J. V. Obinna some tongue lashing of Okorocha before Governor Obi was allowed to take a seat in the front row in the church. Just recently, Okorocha and his aides engaged the security aides of Senator Chris Anyanwu in a battle on the highway where Anyanwu’s driver was pulled out of her car and thoroughly battered leaving him with a broken head.
At today’s encounter, iReports-ng.com gathered that Governor Obi had arrived the church earlier for the programme slated for 10am local time and as he made his way to the front row seats reserved for dignitaries, security aides of Governor Okorocha blocked him and told him without an apology that the seats were reserved for their boss and his entourage who were yet to arrive for the function.
This led to a shouting match, shoving and pushing between Obi’s aides who felt their own principal had been maltreated and the ego puffing aides of Okorocha. The pandemonium attracted  Archbishop Obinna who told Governor Okorocha’s aides without mincing words that seats are not reserved for late comers in the House of God, warning that those in authority should respect God who is the owner of ultimate power.
In his sermon, Dr Obinna praised Stan Ekeh for building the church for God but did not spare political office holders whom he chastised for cornering the nation’s abundant resources for their own benefit at the expense of the masses who live in abject poverty.
“Those in authority should remember that in whatever position they occupy should be used to serve the people, because in spite of the abundance that God has blessed the country with majority of the people are still living in grinding poverty. Today,  we kill for political power, for money and for pleasure and that is why there is no peace in the land, because very few people have cornered the entire resources of the country”, the priest added.
