National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the party had become headache to opposition political parties, hence the formation of the All Progressives Party (APC).
He, however, maintained that the APC remained a non-issue to the PDP but rather a challenge to
the party to harness itself and struggle to continue to better the lives of the Nigerian people.
Speaking yesterday at the meeting on conflict resolution and repositioning organised by the PDP Board of Trustees members from South West in Abuja, Tukur said the formation of the APC had become a challenge for the PDP and hence the party must maximise its potential and further entrench its values in the country.
“We should not allow the present predicament in the south west to dissuade us from the leadership role that you are known for. The amalgamation of opposition into APC is nothing to worry about; we don’t have headache, so we don’t need ‘APC’.
“We should not dissipate our energy over the APC; rather we should work towards rebuilding the nation and our party. The leadership of our party is intact. There is no crisis as peddled in the media; people only tend to give us names. We will not support those who want us to separate,” Tukur said.
Tukur urged the leadership of the South West PDP to rise above the amalgamation of the opposition political parties but to work towards wrestling power in the zone.
Earlier, the former vice national chairman of the party, South West, and the convener of the meeting, Shuaib Oyedoku, said that the meeting was the beginning of the better things for the South West.
The South West, he said, remained the melting pot in Nigerian politics and noted that it could also be the breeding point which, if not taken seriously, would cause serious bleeding for the nation. Source: leadership.ng
